Weekend get-togethers....

Unlike the vagaries of the Danish weather, the weekend get-together was the single most predictable aspect of my stay here. When, how and where it was held changed of course - but the spirit to gather together in one place each weekend never waned.

This was the place where bonds were formed - over glasses of Polish vodka, spoonfulls of 'chaat' (inspirations of genius from Palu-da), leg-pulling 'orgies', quiz sessions, sangeet-chorcha, speculations about flyback policies, myriad debates and discussions, language lessons, an odd dance or two, occasional boxing practice, turmeric smearing frenzies......and many other unique incidents. This was where everybody came in at the end of a week in a relaxed state and revealed their true selves.

These weekend parties were characterised by partnerships, some examples of which you can see below ...

The photo above is of Tom and Jerry....not much scope for debate as to Who is Who...thats Manash-da (our beloved Manku) and myself!

That is Koushik-da and Shibaji-da - fantastic mama-bhagne combo! They were the ones that used to set the parties on fire (quite literally...later of course more joined in the fire worshipping rituals). Shibaji-da (we call him Khabaji when he is eating) was a livewire and his enthusiam and 'bawaal' was surpassed only by his junior self - chotto Popai!

Then there was Goba and Sanjiv - both singers par excellence. Their intentions, enthusiasm and originality could not be doubted - but their duets beared little resemblance to the original songs performed by more reputed singers.

The last gathering we all had together was on Wednesday 13th June - the day before Sanjay-da left. It was also Popai's birthday and both he and Bheblu are captured in the frame below.

That is an 'simply excellent' and 'absolutely scintillating' team you see below :-)
